Attack of the Backpacks!
The community was very generous at
last
year’s Fishers Freedom Festival with donations of school supplies, but the
inventory has been entirely depleted and more donations are desperately needed.
So the Festival Committee is asking for the public’s help.
The Fishers Freedom Festival Committee has already supplied over 1200 new
backpacks filled with school supplies costing around $100 each for this years
needy Hamilton Southeastern school district students to get them through the
school year.
Donations are accepted year round at the Fishers Freedom Festival Office located
at 8605 E. 116th Street, the Fishers Town Hall at the receptionist desk, and
either of the two Regions Banks (11555 Fishers Road or the East 96th
Street branch near Marsh) located in Fishers.
Monetary donations are also accepted and checks can be made payable to “Roy
Holland Backpack for Kids.” A fund has also been set up at the 116th and
Allisonville branch of Regions Bank (11555 Fishers Road).
The Fishers Freedom Festival is a charitable not-for-profit corporation, so any
support you can give is much appreciated. This is the sixth year for the “Roy
Holland Backpacks for Kids” program. It was named after Roy Holland who was a
former 20 year veteran of the Fishers Town Council and avid supporter of the
Fishers Freedom Festival.
If you are in need of help with school supplies, please contact your home school
principal or counselor. You may also call the Fishers Freedom Festival office at
595-3195. For additional information on this program or any upcoming Festival
events visit the Festival’s website at
