“Have you ever wanted to get involved with your community, but didn’t know how or where to start?” “Do you love where you live and take pride in Fishers”? “Would you like for your children to get involved with community projects”? “Does your church, work, or child’s school require community service hours”? We offer something for everyone! The Fishers Parade and Festival, Inc. with their special events and outreach programs can help you get involved at whatever level you have time for. Time commitments can range from two hours a year to as much time as you would like to dedicate. Don’t have much time, but want to do something... collect school supplies.

· Participate on the Strategic Planning Committee. This committee covers all aspects of the current community service/outreach programs listed, future programs and the Fishers Parade and Festival, Inc. 

· Volunteers are needed in all areas (flexible time commitment) during the Fishers Freedom Festival weekend that is held in June.

· Festival Fundraisers “Christmas in October” Craft Show, Classic Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show, and the Fishers Freedom Run/Walk held in the fall (flexible time commitment) October 11, 2008

· Currently working on the 2nd Annual Firecracker Scramble Golf Outing to be held on August 11, 2008 at the Hawthorns Golf and Country Club.

· Volunteers are needed to serve on additional committees or just help throughout the year with knowledge or experience in: Grant Writing · Fundraising · Marketing · Sponsorships · Sales · Graphic Design · Computer Skills · Website Design

The Fishers Freedom Festival

The Fishers Freedom Festival is looking for volunteers for Thursday, June 26 through Monday, June 30, 2008. Time commitments range from just two hours up to two days. Being a private not-for-profit volunteer organization, volunteers are a crucial part to the Festival's success each year.

Become a part of the Fishers Freedom Festival Committee -Festival volunteer meetings are held regularly January through May and the meetings are held on the third Monday of each month. All meetings are at 7:00pm at the Festival Office located at 8601 E. 116th Street. (Our building is located directly behind the Fritz in Fishers Car Dealership)

Volunteer opportunities for the Fishers Freedom Festival:

Arts & Crafts Area - Time commitments between 5 pm until sunset on Wednesday and Thursday. Volunteers will help measure and mark lines for vendor booths. Help check in vendors on Friday afternoon about 4pm-8pm and Saturday morning (6am-8am). Check on vendors all day or help do a vendor evaluation. Adults only please.

Business Tent - Time commitments are Thursday 3pm-6pm to help measure and mark booth spaces. Between 6:30 am through 9 am and 5pm to 6:30 pm on Saturday volunteers will assist business vendors in locating their booth and assist them in unloading their booth materials and loading them back up at the end of the day. Need adults and youth.

Information Tent - Time commitments are three-hour shifts between 6 am through 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers talk to the public and help answer questions. Help keep coolers filled with drinks, help get ready for the parade on Sunday and decorate carts. Need adults and youth

5K Walk/Run - Time commitment is 6:15 am through approximately 9:30 am. Volunteers are needed to sign-in event participants, assist at water stations and hand out race numbers and T-shirts. Need adults and youth.

Children's Tent - Time commitments are three-hour shifts between 9:30 am to 8:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers help set up and run the tent's activities for the children, including face painting, sand art, children's raffle and more. Help with clean up. All crafts are easy to make. Need adults and youth to work.

Food Drive - Time commitments are three-hour shifts between 10 am through noon and 1pm to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers are needed to help box up the donations. Need adults and youth to work.

Children's Parade - Time commitment is from 9:30 am through 11 am on Sunday. Volunteers will help line up parade participants and pass out goodie bags. Need adults and youth to work.

Main Parade - Time commitment is from 3 pm through 6:30 pm on Sunday. Adult Volunteers will help Division Leaders line up parade participants; pass-out participation ribbons, and go over the parade rules. Adult and youth Volunteers will help pass-out items to the crowd if participants request it.

Christmas in October Arts & Crafts

6:00am-8:00am
Help vendors from their cars to their booth locations
Work the Information Table to check in vendors, hand out vendor nametags and raffle sheets.

8:30am-3:30pm (3 hour shifts)
Work the Information Table to help answer questions, pass out flyers/maps with vendors names on it.
Help out at the Raffle Table, picking up the raffle items, selling raffle tickets, and drawing names

3pm-5pm
Help vendors out of their booths
Help taking down tables and chairs and put back where they need to go. Help getting the tape off the floors, getting items back into the trailer, clean up

5 Mile Run/3 Mile Walk – Fishers Freedom Run

6:30am-9:00am
Set up banners & signs, Help register walk/run participants - Pass-out forms to complete, numbers, etc.
Pass out T-shirts to the participant’s
After everyone is registered, clean up area, put items back into the trailer not needed (T-shirts), supplies, etc.

8:30am-11:00am
Work the walk/run route with directional signs, timers needed, water station
Work the Finish Line – Collect number, pass out water and fruit
Clean up area when finished and put items back into trailer

Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show

7:00am-9am
Get banners, signs, tables, chairs, tents set up for the show

9am-4:00pm
Register participants, when show is over clean up area and put things back into the trailer.
