Fishers Freedom Festival - June 26 - 27, 2010
Disc Dog Competition

The 11th Annual Indiana Disc Dog Classic Hosted by the Indy Dog & Disc Club will be held on June 26th and June 27th.
Saturday’s event is the U.F.O. Major Run by the UFO World Cup Series of Disc Dog Competitions. As one of the largest events of its kind, many of the best teams from all over North America come to compete for U.F.O. World Cup Points in hopes to qualify for the world finals in October in Daytona Beach, Florida. There are five other UFO Majors in the United States (Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Jacksonville, and Denver) and three more internationally (Holland, Germany, and Japan).
With current and former world champions competing, dog and handler teams compete in two events in the Open Division on field one (small soccer field). The Toss n Catch event gives each team 60 seconds to get as many throws and catches as they can. A longer throw scores more points. The Freestyle event is a crowd favorite. Each team has prepared a two minute routine played to rock-n-roll music specifically designed to get the crowd cheering and clapping. You’ve seen them on T.V. and will see lots of trick throws and spectacular high flying canine acrobatics that will leave you breathless.
Novice dog and handler teams, including first time players, compete in one event in the Novice Division on field two (large soccer field). The event is Toss n Catch and medals are awarded for Novice 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Fees: $15 Open (Pro) Toss n catch, Open (Pro) Freestyle (you must enter both to be eligible for World Cup Points)
$10 Intermediate (toss n catch only), Novice (toss n catch only)
Day two of the Indiana Disc Dog Classic will have most of the same competitors competing again in Toss n Catch and Freestyle on two fields. There is a Pro, Intermediate, Novice (where first timers are encouraged to enter), and Juniors Division. In addition to the Toss n Catch and Freestyle, there will be the Long Distance competition on field two in the afternoon. Each dog and handler team gets three throws to see how far they can throw the flying disc and get a catch with the longest catch winning. There is a men’s division and a women’s division.
Fees: $15 Protons n Catch, Pro Freestyle
$10 Intermediate Freestyle, Intermediate Toss n Catch, Novice Freestyle, Novice Toss n Catch, Men’s Long Distance, Women’s Long Distance
$ 5 Junior Toss n Catch (under 14 yrs old)
