Executive Director Jennifer Kehl

At the recent International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) convention in St. Louis, Executive Director Jennifer Kehl of the Fishers Freedom Festival received professional designation as a “Certified Festival and Events Executive” (CFEE).

Intiated by the IFEA in 1983 and sponsored by K&K Insurance, the certification program recognizes professionals in the festivals and events industry who have attained the highest level of competency in their field.  Requirements for obtaining the CFEE designation include experiential career achievements, required course work, published article based on research pertaining to events, professional speaking requirements, and meeting the professional standards of the association and its assessment board.  The program typically takes three years to complete.

“The CFEE designation is a mark of distinction.  These individuals have proven their commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, which in turn translates into the continued growth and success of their own festivals/events, as well as our industry as a whole,” states IFEA President and CEO Steven Wood Schmader, CFEE.

Jennifer Kehl joins over 255 other festival/event professionals from around the world who have earned their CFEE certification since the program’s inception 25 years ago.

Headquartered in Boise, Idaho, the IFEA is a non-profit membership organization with members spanning 40 countries and 5 continents, and offers the most complete source of ideas, resources, information, education, and networking for festivals and event professionals world-wide.  For more info on IFEA, go to www.ifea.com.

Back in 1989, the founders of the Fishers Parade and Festival decided to have a community gathering to celebrate Independence Day.  With the help of volunteers, the event originated as a one-day community picnic, parade, and a few games for the children.  Due to the overwhelming participation by the public, this event grew to a two-day event.
The mission of the Fishers Freedom Festival is to encourage fellowship through civic partnerships and citizen involvement by creating a safe environment, developing needed community services, promoting family integrity and striving to improve the quality of life for every resident by investing in human potential.
The 23rd Annual Fishers Freedom Festival which attracts around 60,000 attendees annually will be Saturday, June 25 & Sunday, June 26, 2011.  The Festival is always in need of volunteers at different levels of participation.  For more information on volunteering or about the festival, please email [email protected], visit 8601 East 116th Street in Fishers or call 317-595-3195.  Check us out on Facebook and Twitter.
