The Fishers Freedom Festival announces their 2011 T-Shirt design contest open to any Hamilton Southeastern district student grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Two winners will receive a free T-Shirt bearing their design, a trophy, and will be featured in the Sunday, June 26th festival main parade.  The school with the most entries will receive a total of $500 for their art department.
There will be one winner from each of two categories which are elementary (K – 4th grade) and intermediate/junior high school (5th grade – 8th grade) for the Fishers Freedom Festival’s 2011 official T-Shirt.  Winners will either have their design featured pocket-sized on the front of the shirt or full-sized on the back of the shirt.

When creating your design, please keep in mind that the T-Shirts are white.  All entries must be legible and have “2011 Fishers Freedom Festival” and our theme “Honoring Our Hometown Heroes” in their design.  Other guidelines include:
• Drawings can have up to four colors.
• Drawings must be on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper.
• Only one entry per student.
• No computer drawings allowed.
• Previous T-Shirt contest winners are ineligible.
• On the back of the entry, make sure to include the student’s first and last name, birth date, grade, telephone number, school, and art teacher’s name.

Drawings should be mailed no later than March 1st to the Fishers Freedom Festival at P.O. Box 930, Fishers, IN 46038 or dropped off at the festival office (8591 E. 116th Street, directly behind Fritz in Fishers car dealership).  Drawings will not be returned and become the property of the Fishers Freedom Festival for reproduction.
A selection committee will sort through all entries looking for creativeness and color selection.  All designs need to be easily reproduced into a T-Shirt.  Along with a $500 check, the school with the most submitted entries will receive a plaque for their efforts.
The final 2011 festival T-Shirt will be available for purchase during the Fishers Freedom Festival and also in June at the Fishers Freedom Festival Office.  All proceeds benefit future Fishers Freedom Festivals.
Out of 1600 entries, last year’s winners were Becca Elson from Fall Creek Intermediate School, Molly Simmons of Fall Creek Intermediate School, and Megan Lo from Hamilton Southeastern Junior High School.  Fall Creek Intermediate was the school with the most submitted entries and received a total of $500 ($250 from the Fishers Arts Council and $250 from the Fishers Freedom Festival) for art supplies and a plaque for their efforts.  Fall Creek Intermediate submitted 427 entries which beat Thorpe Creek Elementary by four entries.
