Fishers Freedom Festival’s 21st Annual 5K Event and Family Fun Two Mile Walk with a New Kiddie Run

phys20network-fishers203021Come participate as a runner, jogger, or walker in the 21st annual Fishers Freedom Festival’s 5K Event on Saturday, June 27th.   There will also be with a non-competitive family fun two mile walk and a new kid’s race.   Last year’s event attracted a record crowd of approximately 1000 participants.

Sponsored by St. Vincent Physician Network – Fishers Family Physicians, the 5K Event will begin promptly at 8 a.m.  The two mile family fun walk will begin at 8:05 a.m.  Participants will take a scenic route through Fishers’ neighborhoods, accompanied with water stations that are sponsored by Aqua Systems.  No pets, bikes or roller blades in the 5K Event, please.  Awards will be presented following the race at 9:15 a.m. near the finish area in Roy Holland Park.

New this year, a special Kiddie Run for children ages nine and under will be held at 9 a.m. on Holland Park’s baseball field next to the 5K’s registration tent.  All children who participate will receive a special commemorative prize.  There is no charge to participate in the Kiddie Run.  Registration will be onsite at the ball field beginning at 8:45 a.m.  All participants must be accompanied by their parent and have a signed release for the kid’s race.

Local mascots from Hamilton Southeastern High School and Fishers High School will be there to encourage the children in this new run.  All 5K and family fun event participants are encouraged to cheer on the children as they wait for the 5K race results. 

Online registration is available and encouraged through Wednesday, June 24th at http// or off this web site by clicking here.  For those registering online, cost is $5 per person for the 5K Event and $10 total for up to 10 family members to do the family walk.   Participants may pay by credit card online.

Late registration and early packet pick-up for pre-registered participants will be available on Thursday, June 25th and Friday, June 26th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Roy Holland Park’s main building (One Park Drive).  Participants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to avoid waiting in lines on race day.  Registration will be available the day of the race from 6:15a.m. – 7:45 a.m. near Sunblest Boulevard and Ellipse Parkway on the west side of Holland Park.  For those registering in person Thursday, June 25th up until the beginning of the racae, costs for the 5K Event go up to $8 per person and may pay by cash or check.

Residents who live along the route are encouraged to have hoses and water available.  All funds raised go to the Roy Holland Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Roy Holland Backpacks for Kids Program.  A pep band comprised of Hamilton Southeastern High School will be present.
