2012 American Legion in Parade

Our hometown Main Parade draws thousands of spectators.

This year is the 25th celebration of the Fishers Freedom Festival held on Saturday, June 29th & Sunday, June 30th at Holland Park and we want to add special features and events for the public to enjoy.  In addition, the festival is looking for event sponsors, silent auction donation items, guide advertisers, and lots of volunteers.

We are looking for ideas of what you would like to see to this upcoming event.  We’re also interested in adding some features for teens and seniors.  Please send us your ideas, old festival photos, why you love the festival, or why you think the festival is important to our community via email or our Facebook/Twitter account.

With over 50,000 attendees from all over the U.S., there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy.  This free family event hosts around 130 art & craft sites, over 100 business booths, 30 food vendors, 40 free games booths, lots of live entertainment, 5K walk/run, two parades, fireworks, a variety of tents, and so much more.

The festival utilizes hundreds of volunteers every year to make the Fishers Freedom Festival event occur annually.  Volunteers can sign up on our website starting January 15th here on our website.   A variety of volunteer positions are available.

There is always room to join the festival committee which is the core group of 20+ volunteers who organize and execute the whole event.  Committee meetings begins meeting this month and everyone is welcome to attend.  The meetings are held at 6:30 P.M. on the Monday evenings of January 28, February 25, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 10, June 17, and June 24 at the Festival office located at 8591 E. 116th Street (located behind the Fritz in Fishers car dealership).

2012 Kiddie Run

The Kiddie Run is a short running event for kids hosts many popular mascots for them to meet!

A quilt is being made of all previous years’ T-Shirt designs for public display at the event.  Each design on the quilt represents a previous winner’s design from our community out of the hundreds of entries annually.

Back in 1989, the founders of the Fishers Parade and Festival decided to have a community gathering to showcase community spirit, encourage volunteerism in the community and to celebrate the freedoms afforded to all Americans. With the help of volunteers, the event originated as a one-day community picnic, parade, and a few games for the children.  Due to the overwhelming participation by the public, this event grew to a two-day event.

The mission of the Fishers Freedom Festival is to encourage fellowship through civic partnerships and citizen involvement by creating a safe environment, developing needed community services, promoting family integrity and striving to improve the quality of life for every resident by investing in human potential.

The 25th Annual Fishers Freedom Festival is Saturday, June 29th & Sunday, June 30th, 2013.  Our theme is “A Quarter Century of Celebrating Freedom.”  Check us out on Twitter and Facebook.  For more information on volunteering or about the festival, check out this website, email info@fishersfreedomfestival.org, visit 8591 East 116th Street in Fishers or call 317-595-3195.
