Come participate as a runner, jogger or walker in the 23rd annual Fishers Freedom Festival’s 5K Event on Saturday, June 25th at Roy G. Holland Park (One Park Drive) in Fishers.  The 5K event will begin promptly at 8 a.m.  A non-competitive family fun two-mile walk will begin at 8:05 a.m. and a Kiddie Run at 9 a.m.  Awards will be presented following the race at 9:15 a.m. near the finish area in Holland Park.

Last year’s event attracted a record crowd of nearly 1,300 participants.  Participants will take a scenic route through Fishers’ neighborhoods accompanied with water stations that are sponsored by Hinckley Springs, Indianapolis.  Wheelchair participants are welcomed.  No pets, bikes or roller blades in the 5K event, please.

Sponsored by KinderCare Learning Center, the third annual “Kiddie Run” for children ages nine and under will begin at 9:00 a.m. on the Holland Park baseball field next to the 5K registration tent.  There is no charge to participate and all children will receive a special commemorative prize.  The onsite registration will be at the baseball field beginning at 8:40 a.m. Co-partners of this event are Brain Balance Achievement Center, Don Hinds Ford, Indy Moms, and Sports of All Sorts.

Bring your cameras because local mascots such as “Hink” the Butler Bulldog, Aaron’s “Lucky Dog,” “Snapperz” the turtle from Snapperz, “Lil Kickers” bunny from Sports of Sorts and the Fishers High School Tiger will be at the Kiddie Run to encourage the children and pose for free photographs.  All 5K and family fun event participants are encouraged to cheer on the children as the 5K participants wait for their race results.  All children must be accompanied by their parent and sign a release onsite for the Kiddie Run.

Online registration for the 5K event is available and encouraged until Tuesday, June 21st on our website by clicking here.  For those registering online, cost is $12 per person for the 5K event which includes a festival shirt and chip.  For the family walk, participants 13 years old & up are $7.50 receiving no festival shirt or $10 to include a shirt.  Children 12 & under are free.  Participants may pay by credit card online. 

Late registration and early packet pick-up for pre-registered participants will be available on Thursday, June 23rd and Friday, June 24th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Holland Park’s main building.  Participants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to avoid waiting in lines on race day.  Registration will be available the day of the race from 6:30 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. near Sunblest Boulevard and Ellipse Parkway on the west side of Holland Park.  For those registering in person Thursday, June 23rd through the beginning of the race, the 5K event costs go up to $15 per person which includes the chip and festival.  It may be paid by cash or check.

Residents who live along the 5K route are encouraged to have hoses and water available.  All funds raised go to the Roy Holland Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Roy Holland Backpack for Kids program.  A pep band comprised of Hamilton Southeastern High School and Fishers High School will be present.
