The Fishers Freedom Festival proudly announces the winners of the 2012 T-Shirt design contest.  Sally Jane Johnson from Hamilton Southeastern Junior High School will have her design on the front of the Festival T-Shirt.  She will receive a free festival T-Shirt bearing her design, a trophy, a $20 Handel’s Ice Cream gift card, and will be featured in the Sunday, June 24th main parade.

In addition, there were 10 additional winners chosen whose designs will be featured on upcoming promotional Fishers Freedom Festival posters.  They will also receive a $10 Handel’s Ice Cream gift card.  Those winners were:

• Breanna Zook of Fall Creek Intermediate School

• Ashley Cho, Madison Park, and Stephen Vukovits of Hamilton Southeastern Junior High

• Sienna Borowicz, Sydney Myers, and Kaiya Walker of New Britton Elementary

• Ashley Buening of Riverside Intermediate School

• Carson Henley and Sierra Solis of Riverside Junior High School

Applicants were required to be Hamilton Southeastern school district students submitting designs from either elementary school (K – 4th grade), intermediate school (5th and 6th grade), or junior high school (7th and 8th grade).  Submitted designs had to include this year’s festival theme “Celebrate Fishers Spirit,” the title “2012 Fishers Freedom Festival,” and a maximum four colors.  No computer drawings were allowed.  All designs depict a patriotic theme.   A selection committee sorted through approximately 2050 entries submitted by March 15th and looked for creativeness and color selection.  All designs also had to be easily reproduced into a T-Shirt.

Fall Creek Intermediate was the school with the most submitted entries of 933 and will receive a total of $500 ($250 from the Fishers Arts Council and $250 from the Fishers Freedom Festival) for art supplies and a plaque for their efforts.

The Festival T-Shirt will be available for purchase during the Fishers Freedom Festival, in the Fishers Freedom Festival Office (8591 East 116th Street) and off the Festival’s web site at  All sizes are $10.  Proceeds benefit future Fishers Freedom Festivals.
