Main Parade’s Float Judging Contest
The Fishers Arts Council is pleased to announce its second annual Fishers Arts Council’s “Choice Award” for the best float in the 21st Fishers Freedom Festival main parade on Sunday, June 28th. The winner will receive a trophy and a $500 prize.
Prior to the 4 p.m. parade start, judges will review and rate all parade floats according to the following criteria:
• General Effect in Presentation: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded). The overall effective presentation of the float. Its presentation, as it will appear on the parade route. Beauty and creativity.
• Workmanship: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded). The craftsmanship in the float creation. Detail in design and creation of float objects with the effective use of colors and materials.
• Parade Theme: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded). How well the float design concept adapts to the parade theme.
• Originality: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded). The creativeness and originality in the float design concept. Walking contingents will be judged on originality, enthusiasm, parade theme and overall appearance.
A float sponsor representative must be available to answer judges’ questions about the float concept, decorating materials, etc. All costumed float participants should be in place with animation and sound system working, if applicable. A float not at its parade starting point at judging time will be disqualified from the contest.
Once the judging is complete and scores tallied, the judges will inform the winner and the trophy will be awarded. The winning float will also be preceded by a banner naming the award during the actual parade.
If you are interested in entering a parade float for the festival’s main parade, please fill out a parade application available on our web site or by calling the festival office at 595-3195 as soon as possible. All parade float entries must be postmarked, faxed, or emailed no later than June 20.
