The 22nd Annual Fishers Freedom Festival is weeks away and volunteers are needed in various capacities for this event which attracts over 50,000 attendees providing a wide range of activities and events.  Adults and children can work as little or as many shifts as you want for the various opportunities on Wednesday, June 23 through Sunday, June 27.  Students can use these volunteer opportunities towards their community service hours for school.

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

5K Walk/Run – Time commitments vary on Thursday, June 24 through Saturday, June 26.  Volunteers will help with registration, hand out T-shirts, crosswalk sentries, help at water stops, collect timing chips, hand out snacks and drinks, and clean up.

Arts & Crafts Area – Time commitments vary on Wednesday, June 23 through Saturday, June 26.  Volunteers help map out booths, check in vendors and assist the vendors to their booth location.  Some volunteers are also asked to judge vendor booths on appearance, quality, etc.

Business and Free Game Tent – Time commitments vary on Thursday, June 24 through Sunday, June 27.  Volunteers are needed to help layout booths, direct vendors to the entrance of the tent and parking area, help vendors unload their goods, take them to the vendor booths and repeat the process at the end of the day.   Volunteers will also help break down tables and chairs and stack them.

Children’s Tent – Time commitments vary on Friday, June 25 through Sunday, June 27.  Volunteers will help children’s with hands on crafts at different stations, replenish craft supplies, paint children’s faces, set up, and clean up.   Adults are needed to help sign in children upon arrival and watch donation jar and raffle items.

Food Drive Tent – Time commitments are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and also 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27.  Volunteers will sort and box food and school supplies and carry them to the storage trailer.  Volunteers will also walk the park to collect items dropped off into the grocery carts placed around the park.

Food Vendor Booths – Time commitments vary on Wednesday, June 23 through Sunday, June 27.  Volunteers will mark booth spaces for food vendors and help with set up. Volunteers will also help getting ice to the food vendors.

Information Tent – Time commitments vary on Thursday, June 24 through Monday, June 28.  The Information Tent is the place for Festival patrons to get information on the events, schedules, and maps.  T-Shirts are also sold at the tent.   Volunteers will assist with the above tasks, as well as help keep the drink coolers full, the large trailer organized, and help the Parade Division Leaders decorate their golf carts and get their items needed for the parade on Sunday.

Parking Crew – Time commitment are Saturday, June 26 to Sunday, June 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Volunteers help with directing vehicles into the parking area and locating a parking spot as well as collecting the parking fee.  Volunteers must be over 14 years of age.

Sound System – Time commitments are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 24.  Volunteers will be pulling underground speaker wire and hooking up the speaker system. Volunteers must be able to lift equipment (large speakers) and mount on 10′ posts.

T-Shirt & Light Up Necklace Sales – Time commitments are 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27.  Volunteers are needed to sell festival shirts and light up necklaces.
